Semiya Upma (Vermicelli)
Ingredients
1.Semiya-1 cup
2.Boiling water-2 cups
3.Onion –1 sliced
4.Green chilly-2 finely chopped
5.Ginger-a small piece finely chopped
6.Red chilly-2
7.Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
8. Curry leaves –a few
9.lemon jucie-2 tbsp
10.Sugar tsp
11. Roasted cashew nuts –2 tsp
12. Roasted peanut – 2 tsp
13.Roasted Bengal gram –1tsp
14.Roasted urad dal-1 tsp
15. Fried kismiss- 2 tsp
16. Grated coconut-1/2 cup
17.Salt to taste.
18. Oil or ghee-3 tbsp
METHOD
Heat oil in a wide pan, add mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves, when mustard starts popping up, add onion, ginger and green chilly, fry till onion becomes transparent. Add fried semiya, sauté well for few mints and then add the boiling water and salt, stir well in low flame and cover with a lid. After few seconds, open the lid and stir once again. Remove from fire, sprinkle sugar and lime juice and decorate with roasted cashew nut, Bengal gram, urad dal, peanut,grated coconut and kismiss. Semiya Upma is ready. Serve with Raitha.
