SPICY CHICKEN CURRY

Ingredients

1.                  Chicken – ½  kg
2.                  Channa dal -2 tbsp
3.                  Kashmiri red chilly -10
4.                  Coriander seeds  -3 tsp
5.                  Cumin seeds -1 tsp
6.                  Turmeric pdr – ¼ tsp
7.                  Fennel seeds -1 tsp
8.                  Black pepper -1 tsp (as per your taste)
9.                  Curry leaves – few
10.              Small onions - 1cup
11.              Ginger- garlic paste - 2 tsp
12.              Cinnamon sticks - 2 small pieces
13.              Coconut milk – thin-1cup, thick -1 cup
14.              Lemon -1
15.              Tomato - 2
16.              Salt.
17.              Curry leaves
18.              Coconut oil – ½ cup

Preparation

1. Pour some oil in a hot frying pan and add items 2 to 9 and roast. After roasting, powder it and keep aside. 

        2.Heat another pan add oil, when it becomes hot, add cinnamon sticks and chopped small onions and sauté till the onions become brown in colour. Then add ginger- garlic pastes and curry leaves, sauté well, add the powdered masala and mix well. 
       
       3.To the above mix add chicken and tomato pieces and cook for some time.  Then add thin coconut milk and salt, close the lid and cook till chicken become soft.  Next, add thick coconut milk and cook for another few mts. 

        4.Finally after adding lemon juice, turn off the fire.

        5. Serve with roti or bread.
