Kadala curry (Channa)


Ingredients

Kadala or channa –2 cup ( soaked over night)
Grated coconut –1/2 cup
Small onion-10
Coriander seeds-2 tsp
Dry red chilly-8-10
Garlic – 2 flakes
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Jeera- 1tsp
Mustard seed-1tsp
Dry red chilly – 2 broken
Curry leaves a few
Oil- 3 tbsp

Method

Cook the Kadala (channa)  in 1 cup of water in a pressure cooker and keep aside. Fry the grated coconut in a pan till golden brown and keep aside. Heat 1 tbsp of oil and fry items 3-7 till it become light brown. Grind it to a fine paste along with roasted grated coconut adding little water. Heat 2 tbsp oil add items 8-11, sauté well, add the ground paste and cooked kadala and bring to boil till you get desired consistency. Serve hot with puttu.
