Chembu (colocasia) pulinkari
Ingredients
1.Chembu-100gm
2.Tuar dal-1/2 cup
3.Water-3 cups
4.Tamarind-a lemon size
5.Tumeric powder-1 tsp
6.Chilly powder-1 tsp
7.Asafoetida- 2 pinch
8.Green chilly (splits)-3
9.Small oinion-1/2 cup
10.Curry leaves- a few
11. Salt
12 .Oil – 3tbsp
13.Mustard seeds- 1tsp
14. Broken dry red chilly-2
Method
Clean and wash the tuar dal. Cut chembu into small pieces after peeling the skin. Cook dal, chembu, green chilly, turmeric, chilly powder & salt with 3 cups of water in a cooker. Soak the tamarind in ½ cup of warm water, make it into a pulp and keep aside. After the cooker cools down, add turmeric to the cooked dal/chembu mix and boil again. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, red chilly, asafoetida, curry leaves and fry for few min. Then add chopped small onions, fry till it become brown and add this into the Chembu Pulinkary. Serve this along with rice
