SABUDANA/ TAPIOCA SAGO UPMA
Ingredients
Sabudana-
1cup/150g, Shredded coconut – ½ cup/50g,
Urad dal -1tsp/5g, Mustard seeds -1tsp/5g, Nuts -10, kismis-1 tbsp/10 g, Green
chilly chopped-2, Ginger -1 inch piece, Curry leaves- 2 stems, Lime juice – ½ lime,
Oil-2 tbsp/Salt, Water as needed.
Method
1.Soak the sabudana
in adequate water for 6-8 hrs. Drain off the sabudana in a strainer and rest for
30mts.
2. Heat oil in
a pan, roast the nuts and kismis and keep aside.
3. In the same
pan, crackle the mustard seeds; add urad dal and sauté until it turned into
light brown.
4. Add green
chilly, ginger and curry leaves
5. To the
above add soaked sabudana and salt and sauté in low heat for few mts also making
sure not to mash the sabudana.
6.Cover and
simmer for 3 mts or until sabudana gets cooked well as indicated by the pearls
turning translucent.
7.Further more,
add half lime juice and mix well
8. Finally add
grated coconut, nuts and kismis, mix well again.
Sabudana /tapioca
sago upma is ready to serve with sambar or chutney.
