RAW MANGO FISH CURRY



Ingredients

1.      Fish - 500gms.
2.      Raw mango -1chopped (sour)
3.      Shallots – ½ cup
4.      Dry red chilly - 10 (Kashmiri chilly)
5.      Coriander seeds -2tbsp
6.      Ginger -1 inch pieces
7.      Curry leaves a few
8.      Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
9.      Shredded coconut – ½ cup
10.  Onion - 1chopped
11.  Green chilly - 6 slit
12.  Fenugreek -1tsp
13.  Kudampuli (Kokum) – 2 pieces soaked in ½ cup water (or use tamarind)
14.  Salt as needed
15.  Oil as needed
                                           
Method

1.      Clean and wash the fish pieces, add some salt and keep aside.

2.      Heat 1tbsp oil in a pan, add red chilly and coriander seeds, fry well, then add chopped shallots, ginger and curry leaves, sauté until all the items are fried well.

3.      Grind the shredded coconut together with fried items to a smooth paste.

4.      Heat 2 tbsp oil in a deep vessel, add fenugreek, let splutter, and then add curry leaves and chopped onion, and fry well.

5.      Then add ground coconut paste, green chilly, kudampuli, salt, turmeric powder and 2cups water and bring to boil in medium heat.

6.      Once it starts boiling, add raw mango and fish pieces, cook without covering the vessel until oil comes up. Check salt and turn off the flame.


7.      Serve hot with Rice.
