Ingredients

1.      Raw rice/Basmati rice – ½  cup
2.      Moong dal – ½  cup
3.      Water  – 3 ½  cup
4.      Bay leaf -1
5.      Turmeric powder – ¼  tsp
6.      Asafoetida –  ¼ tsp
7.      Jeera -1 tsp
8.      Black pepper - 1tsp crushed
9.      Ghee -2 Tbsp
10.  Salt- as needed
11.  Cashew nuts -10 broken
12.  Raisins -10

Method

1.      Wash the rice and moong dal cook in a pressure cooker adding water, salt, turmeric powder, bay leaf, asafoetida, pepper, jeera and ghee for 4 whistles and in low flame for 15 mins.


2.      Decorate with cashew and raisins fried in ghee. Serve hot.
