MUTTON CURRY





Ingredients

1.      Mutton pieces – ½  kg
2.      Tomato (big) -1  
3.      Chilly powder-1 tbsp
4.      Coriander powder-1 tbsp
5.      Turmeric powder-1 tsp
6.      Mutton masala -2 tbsp
7.      Vinegar-2 tsp
8.      Salt

For gravy

1.      Small onion -2 cups
2.      Ginger-1 inch piece
3.      Garlic -10
4.      Curry leaves - a hand full
5.      Coconut pieces - ½  cup
6.      Jeera -1tsp (crushed)
7.      Fennel seeds -1tbsp(crushed)
8.      Pepper -1tsp (crushed)
9.      Oil - 3 tbsp
10.  Ghee -2 tsp

Preparation

1.Wash the mutton pieces and cook it in a cooker adding ½ cup water along with items 2-7 and salt. Turn off the flame after 4 whistles and keep it for cooling. 

2.Crush items 1-4 for gravy. 

3.Heat a pan, add oil and when it becomes hot add coconut pieces till it turns brown, and then add crushed items and sauté till the raw smell goes. To this add the cooked mutton, bring to boil without covering, lower the flame, cook till the gravy thickens (add salt if necessary) and add the crushed pepper,jeera and fennel seeds and ghee and stir well  and turn off the stove.
