MOONG DAL POTATO CURRY





Ingredients

1.      Moong dal -1cup
2.      Potato -2medium cubed
3.      Green chilly -3 (crushed)
4.      Ginger - 1 inch (crushed)
5.      Onion-1 medium chopped
6.      Turmeric powder – ½  tsp
7.      Chilly powder-1 tbsp
8.      Salt

For tempering

1.      Ghee-2 tbsp
2.      Mustard-1tsp
3.      Jeera-1tsp
4.      Fennel seeds (snafu) – ½  tsp
5.      Asafoetida -  a pinch
6.      Tomato-1cubed
7.      Coriander leaves - a few

Preparation

 1.Wash the moong dal and cook it in a pressure cooker adding 2 cups of water along with items 2-8. After 3 whistles lower the flame, cook till 1 more whistle. After cooling, open the cooker and keep aside. 

2.Heat ghee in a frying pan,  add items 2-5 and after spluttering add the cubed tomato, sauté well and  add coriander leaves  before adding  the mix to the moong dal curry. Stir and serve hot.
