TOMATO RASAM




Ingredients

1.      Tomato puree – 1 cup
2.      Tamarind -1 lemon size
3.      Garlic crushed -1 dsp
4.      Ginger -1 inch piece (crushed)
5.      Turmeric powder -1tsp
6.      Red chilly powder -1 tsp
7.      Pepper powder -2 tsp
8.      Rasam powder -2 tbsp
9.      Asafoiteda -a pinch
10.  Mustard seed -1tsp
11.  Dry red chilly -2
12.  Curry leaves - a few
13.  Oil – 2 tbsp (coconut oil or ghee )
14.  Jaggery -1tbsp(optional, use as needed according to your taste)

Method

1.Soak the tamarind in little warm water and make it into a pulp. 

2.Heat oil in a pan, add items 10-12, when mustard start spluttering add the powders 5-9 and  sauté till the raw smell goes. 

3.To the above add garlic, ginger, tomato puree, tamarind pulp and 5 cups of water and salt. 

4.Bring to boil lower the flame and boil for 10-15 minutes finally add curry leaves and jaggery. 

5.Serve hot with rice.
