KADALAPARIPPU-ULLI(SHALLOTS) CURRY




 
Ingredients

1.      Kadalaparippu (Channa dal) -1cup
2.      Shallots -10
3.      Green chilly -4 (slit in the middle)
4.      Ginger chopped -1tsp
5.      Turmeric powder – ½  tsp
6.      Red chilly powder -1 tsp
7.      Coriander powder -2 tsp
8.      Jeera powder – ½  tsp
9.      Ghee -1 tbsp
10.  Mustard -1 tsp
11.  Fenugreek – ¼  tsp
12.  Dry red chilly - 2
13.  Curry leaves -1 stem
14.  Lemon juice -1 tbsp
15.  Salt a required
 
Preparation

1.Cook the kadalaparippu (Channa dal) in a cooker with 2 cups of water. Add items 2-8 and boil again adding salt. 

2.Heat a frying pan, add ghee and items 10-13, sauté well, add this to the dal and finally add  lemon juice (curry should have the consistency of sambar). Can serve with roti or rice.
