TAWA VEG PULAVU
Ingredients
- Basmati rice – 1 ½ cup /360gms
- Water – 3 cups
- Ghee – 4 tbsp
- Jeera - 2tsp
- Cardamom – 2
- Cinnamon – 1 small piece
- Cloves -4
- Bay leaf – 1
- Onion – 1 cup chopped
- Tomato – ½ cup chopped
- Ginger – Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Carrot – 1 finely chopped
- Beans – 1 cup chopped
- Green peas – 1 cup boiled
- Capsicum – 1 chopped
- Salt as needed
- Pavu baji masala – 1 ½ tbsp
- Chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1tsp
- Lemon – 1
Method
- Wash and soak the rice for 20 mins, drain and cook the rice adding salt and 3 cups of water and keep aside.
- Soak the chilly, turmeric and pavu baji masala powders in little water for 10 mins.
- Heat ghee in a pan (tawa) add spices and fry for few mins then add chopped onion sauté them in medium heat until golden brown.
- To the above add ginger- garlic paste, sauté for few seconds until the raw taste of the ginger and garlic goes away then add tomato and cook till soft. To it add the soaked powders, sauté, add chopped carrot and beans, cook until the carrot get cooked ,then add boiled green peas sauté well adding enough salt.
- Finally add cooked rice and sprinkle lemon juice, mix well and turn off the flame.
- Serve hot with raitha.
