MASALA IDILY VEGETABLE FRY


Ingredients

  1. Idily – 6
  2. Onion – 1
  3. Capsicum – 1
  4. Tomato – 1
  5.  Carrot – 1
  6. Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  7. Chilly powder – 1 tsp
  8. Garam masala – 1 tsp
  9. Mustard – 1 tsp
  10. Urad dal – 2 tsp
  11. Jeera – 1tsp
  12. Curry leaves – a few
  13. Salt as needed
  14. Oil – 3 tbsp
  15. Lemon juice - 1tbsp

Method

  1. Slice the idily vertically and coat the pieces with ½ tsp chilly, garam masala and turmeric powders and keep aside.
  2. Cut the vegetables into thin pieces, then keep aside.
  3. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add the masala coated idily pieces and shallow fry both sides for few mins and remove from pan.
  4. In the same pan heat balance 2 tsp oil, add mustard and jeera, let it splutter, add urad dal, sauté well until light brown, then add sliced vegetables, salt, balance chilly, garam masala and turmeric powders and sauté until the vegetables are fried well.
  5. Finally add  the masala idily to the vegetables and mix well. 
  6. Sprinkle 1 tbsp lemon juice over masala idily fry for more taste. Serve hot
