PINEAPPLE RASAM
Ingredients
- Pineapple (ripe) – 250 gms
- Stock of Tuvar dal – 1 litre
- Tamarind – 50 gms
- Red chilly powder – 2 tbsp
- Coriander – 1 tbsp
- Pepper powder – 2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida – ¼ tsp
- Garlic – 10 crushed
- Salt as needed
- Jaggery – according to your taste
For Seasoning
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Mustard -2 tsp
- Shallots – 10 chopped
- Dry red chilly – 2
- Curry leaves, Coriander leaves
Method
- Chop the pineapple into small pieces keep aside.
- Take a deep bowl, add tuvar dal stock (cook 1 cup of tuvar dal in 1 litre of water), to it add chilly, coriander, pepper, turmeric powders, asafoetida, salt and tamarind water (½ cup) and bring to boil in medium flame. Add the pineapple pieces and cook until nice aroma of pineapple comes out.
- Heat oil in a pan add the seasonings, sauté well and add to the boiling rasam.
- Finally add jiggery, stir well and turn off the flame.
- Serve hot.
