BUTTER RICE
Ingredients
Basmathi rice-1 cup, Water-2cups, Butter-4 tsp, Onion -1 , garlic
2-3 flakes, Dry red chilly-2, Cardamom-2, Pepper-10, Split pigeon peas/thuvara
parippu -1/2 cup, Salt as needed.
Method
1.Boil two cups of water in a vessel adding salt , wash the rice
and add to the boiling water and cook
(don’t overcook)
2.Mix some butter to the cooked rice and keep aside.
3. Cook the parippu in a cooker for 3 whistles in high flame
(don’t overcook).
4.Powder the red chilly, pepper, cardamom and Garlic and keep
aside.
5.Heat butter in a pan, sauté chopped onion until it become
translucent.
6. Add the powdered mix and sauté well adding enough salt.
7. Mix the cooked rice and parippu in to the onion mixture.
8. Mix gently and turn off the flame. You can use coriander
leaves for garnishing.
