CHERUPARIPPU CURRY/SPLIT GREEN GRAM
Ingredients
- Cheru parippu – 1 cup
- Green chilly – 4
- Ginger – 1 small piece
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Salt as needed
For seasoning
- Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Jeera – tbsp
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Red Chilly powder – 1tsp
- Coriander leaves – a few
- Water -2 cup
Method
- Dry roast the parippu lightly, when it is cooled wash and cook in a pressure cooker adding salt, turmeric, chopped green chilly and ginger for 3 whistles in high flame 1 whislles in low flame.
- Transfer the cooked parippu in a bowl. Heat ghee in a pan, add the seasonings, sauté well, then add chilly powder and turn off the flame (do not burn the chilly powder). Add this to the parippu and mix well.
- SERVE HOT WITH CHAPPTHI OR POORI.
