CHERUPARIPPU CURRY/SPLIT GREEN GRAM

 



Ingredients

  1. Cheru parippu – 1 cup
  2. Green chilly – 4
  3. Ginger – 1 small piece
  4. Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  5. Salt as needed

 For seasoning

  1. Ghee – 2 tbsp
  2. Jeera – tbsp
  3. Asafoetida - a pinch
  4. Red Chilly powder – 1tsp
  5. Coriander leaves – a few
  6. Water -2 cup

Method

  1. Dry roast the parippu lightly, when it is cooled wash and cook in a pressure cooker adding salt, turmeric, chopped green chilly and ginger for 3 whistles in high flame 1 whislles in low flame.
  2. Transfer the cooked parippu in a bowl. Heat ghee in a pan, add the seasonings, sauté well, then add chilly powder and turn off the flame (do not burn the chilly powder). Add this to the parippu and mix well. 
  3. SERVE HOT WITH CHAPPTHI OR POORI.
