KOZHUKKATTA WITH CHUTNEY

Ingredients

  1. Rice flour (roasted) – 1 cup
  2. Water – 2 cup
  3. Oil – 2 tsp
  4. Salt as needed

Method

  1. Boil 2 cups of water with salt, when it starts boiling add the rice flour little by little, mix well, turn off the flame and keep aside.
  2. Apply some oil in your palm and knead the warm rice mixture to smooth dough without any lumps.
  3. Make small marble sized balls out of the dough, place the dumplings in a steamer and steam for 15-20 mins till it is cooked and transfer it to a bowl and keep aside.

Red coconut chutney

Ingredients

  1. Shredded coconut – 1 cup
  2. Red chilly – 5
  3. Shallots -4
  4. Ginger – 1 small piece
  5. Salt
  6. Water – ½ cup
  7. For seasoning
  8. Mustard – 2 tsp
  9. Red chilly – 2
  10. Urad dal – 2 tsp
  11. Curry leaves- 1 spring

Method

  1. In a mixer grind together all the ingredients to a fine paste adding ½ cup water and enough salt.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds let it crackle then add urad dal, roast until golden brown then add red chilly, curry leaves, sauté well and add the tempering to chutney.
  3.  Add the steamed dumplings to the chutney and mix well. 
  4. SERVE HOT AS BREAKFAST
