VAZHAKKAI/ RAW BANANA PODIMAS



Ingredients

  1. Raw banana -2
  2. Shredded coconut - ½ cup
  3. Onion – 1
  4. Garlic – 4
  5. Green chilly -2
  6. Red chilly – 2 broken
  7. Mustard – 2 tsp
  8. Urad dal – 2 tsp
  9. Channa dal – 2 tsp
  10. Asafoetida – 2 pinches
  11. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  12. Sambar powder – 1tsp
  13. Lemon juice – 2 tsp
  14. Salt
  15. Oil 2 tbsp
  16. Curry leaves  a few

Method 

  1. Cut the raw banana into two, cook it with water and take it out when ¾ th done. After cooling,  peel off the skin and grate using a grater keep aside.
  2. Heat a pan, add oil and roast  urad dal,channa dal, mustard,curry leaves, dry red  chilly and asafoetida  together.
  3. Add garlic, green chilly  , onion ,turmeric powder and sambar powder   sauté well then add grated banana, lemon juice,salt and shredded  coconut, mix well in medium flame for few mins.
  4. Turn off the stove and transfer it to a bowl, your delicious mild flavoured special vazhakka podimas is READY TO SERVE RICE.
