VAZHAKKAI/ RAW BANANA PODIMAS
Ingredients
- Raw banana -2
- Shredded coconut - ½ cup
- Onion – 1
- Garlic – 4
- Green chilly -2
- Red chilly – 2 broken
- Mustard – 2 tsp
- Urad dal – 2 tsp
- Channa dal – 2 tsp
- Asafoetida – 2 pinches
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Sambar powder – 1tsp
- Lemon juice – 2 tsp
- Salt
- Oil 2 tbsp
- Curry leaves a few
Method
- Cut the raw banana into two, cook it with water and take it out when ¾ th done. After cooling, peel off the skin and grate using a grater keep aside.
- Heat a pan, add oil and roast urad dal,channa dal, mustard,curry leaves, dry red chilly and asafoetida together.
- Add garlic, green chilly , onion ,turmeric powder and sambar powder sauté well then add grated banana, lemon juice,salt and shredded coconut, mix well in medium flame for few mins.
- Turn off the stove and transfer it to a bowl, your delicious mild flavoured special vazhakka podimas is READY TO SERVE RICE.
