DAL DOSA

 


Ingredients

  1. Raw rice – 100 gms
  2. Bengal gram – 100gms
  3. Tuvar dal – 100gms
  4. Split moong dal -100gms
  5. Dry red chilly – 6
  6. Garlic – 4 flakes
  7. Fennel – 2 tsp
  8. Pepper – 1 tsp
  9. Asafoetida – 1 tsp
  10. Green chilly – 4
  11. Onion – 1 finely chopped
  12. Curry leaves or Corinader leaves - 1/4 cup chopped
  13. Salt
  14. Turmeric powder – 1tsp

Method

  1. Rinse and soak the red chilly, rice and the dals for 2-3 hrs.
  2. Grind rice- dals, garlic, red chilly, fennel and pepper together adding 1 cup water to a semi coarse batter. Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl (use the batter before fermenting).
  3. Then add chopped onion, green chilly, curry leaves, asafoetida, turmeric powder and salt as required and enough water and mix very well. Make sure that the batter is of thick flowing consistency. Add more water if needed
  4. Heat a tawa and spread little oil on it. Take a ladle full of batter and pour on the tawa and spread to a round circle. Thereafter pour little oil on the sides as well as the centre
  5. Cook on medium heat until the batter becomes crisp and golden,   flip and then cook the dosa till it has golden spots on both sides.
  6. Pour some oil over the dal dosa and serve with chutney/jaggery or idly podi.
