NETHOLI FRY

 


Ingredients

  1. Netholi fish/Anchovy – 250gms
  2. Shallots -8
  3. Ginger – garlic paste – 2 tbsp
  4. Rice flour – 2 tbsp
  5. Besan /kadalapodi -3 tbsp
  6. Red chilly – 2 tbsp
  7. Pepper powder – 1 tbsp
  8. Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  9. Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  10. Curry leaves
  11. Salt as needed
  12. Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  13. Oil for frying

Method

  1. Wash and clean the fish netholi/kozhuva and pat dry using a towel.
  2. Grind shallots, ginger garlic paste together with chilly, coriander, pepper and turmeric powders adding little water, enough salt to make a smooth paste.
  3. Next take a mixing bowl, marinate the cleaned fish with ground paste and keep for 30 mins.
  4. Before frying, add rice flour and kadalapodi/besan to the marinated fish, mix well, to get crispy fried fish.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan and deep fry the marinated fish over medium heat, in batches.
  6. Once they turn crispy, remove the fish to a paper towel so that the excess oil will be absorbed.
  7. SPRINKLE SOME LEMON JUICE AND SERVE HOT WITH RICE.
