NETHOLI FRY
Ingredients
- Netholi fish/Anchovy – 250gms
- Shallots -8
- Ginger – garlic paste – 2 tbsp
- Rice flour – 2 tbsp
- Besan /kadalapodi -3 tbsp
- Red chilly – 2 tbsp
- Pepper powder – 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves
- Salt as needed
- Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
- Oil for frying
Method
- Wash and clean the fish netholi/kozhuva and pat dry using a towel.
- Grind shallots, ginger garlic paste together with chilly, coriander, pepper and turmeric powders adding little water, enough salt to make a smooth paste.
- Next take a mixing bowl, marinate the cleaned fish with ground paste and keep for 30 mins.
- Before frying, add rice flour and kadalapodi/besan to the marinated fish, mix well, to get crispy fried fish.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and deep fry the marinated fish over medium heat, in batches.
- Once they turn crispy, remove the fish to a paper towel so that the excess oil will be absorbed.
- SPRINKLE SOME LEMON JUICE AND SERVE HOT WITH RICE.
