AYALA CURRY

 


Ingredients

  1. Ayala / mackerel - 4
  2. Tomato – 4
  3. Shallots - 1 cup
  4. Garlic - 8
  5. Ginger – 1 small piece
  6. Pepper powder – 2 tsp
  7. Coriander powder – 2 tbsp
  8. Fenugreek – 1 tsp
  9. Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  10. Onion – 1 chopped
  11. Green chilly – 4
  12. Curry leaves – 2string
  13. Kudampuli – 4 pieces
  14. Salt as needed
  15. Oil – 2 tbsp

Method

  1. Clean and wash the fish and cut into pieces.
  2. Soak the kudampuli in ½ cup water for 10 mins.
  3. Grind together tomato, shallots, ginger, garlic, pepper, coriander to fine masala paste.
  4. Heat oil in a pan add fenugreek, let it splutter, add curry leaves, turmeric powder, chopped onion and chopped green chilly, sauté well until light brown, add ground masala and mix well.
  5. To the above add soaked kudampuli, fish pieces, enough water & salt and cook uncovered in medium heat to boil; continue cooking until the oil comes up.
  6. Serve hot with rice.
