CRAB MEAT THORAN
Ingredients
- Crab meat – 200gm
- Onion - 1 chopped
- Ginger – 1small piece
- Garlic – 10
- Green chilly - 4
- Curry leaves - a few
- Shredded coconut – ½ cup
- Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
- Dry red chilly – 8
- Pepper corns- 1 tsp
- Fennel seeds – 2tsp
- Shallots – 10
- Garam masala – 2tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1tsp
- Salt as needed
For seasoning
- Mustard -2 tsp
- Jeera - 1 tsp
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Dry red chilly – 2 broken
- Oil 2 tbsp
Method
- Heat a pan and roast shredded coconut, coriander, red chilly, pepper corns, fennel and shallots until light brown and grind to a coarse paste and keep aside.
- Heat a pan, add oil, when the oil becomes hot add Urad dal, mustard, broken red chilly, jeera and curry leaves; let it splutter, then add finely chopped onion, ginger, garlic and chopped green chilly, sauté well, then add the crab meat, salt, turmeric powder, garam masala and ground paste, mix well and cook in low flame for 20 mins adding little water until the dish is dry (thoran should be dry).
- Serve hot with rice.
