MUTTON CHUKKA
Ingredients
- Mutton- 500gms
- Chopped coconut pieces- 100 gms
- Dry red chilly -6
- Coriander seeds – 3 tbsp
- Pepper – 2 tbsp
- Fennel seeds – 2 tbsp
- Jeera – 1tbsp
- Cardamom – 2
- Cinnamon stick – 1 small piece
- Chopped shallots – 2 cup
- Chopped garlic – 2 tbsp
- Curry leaves a few
- Salt as needed
- Ginger- garlic paste - 2tbsp
- Chilly powder – 2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1tsp
- Garam masala – 1tsp
- Sesame oil – 3 tbsp
- Vinegar – 1tbsp
Method
- Wash and clean the mutton pieces and marinate with ½ tsp turmeric powder, chilly powder salt, vinegar and ginger- garlic paste for ½ hr.
- Pressure cook upto 5-6 whistles in medium flame adding little water and keep aside.
- Heat sesame oil in pan, add chopped coconut pieces, and fry till they turn brown, then remove and keep aside. In the same oil add garlic, sauté well until golden brown, add chopped shallots, curry leaves and ginger- garlic paste, sauté well, then add crushed pepper, chilly powder, garam masala and ½ tsp turmeric powder, sauté, then add cooked mutton and powdered masala and required salt, mix well.
- Sauté the mixed mutton on medium flame, once the mutton is dry add fried coconut pieces. MUTTON CHUKKA IS READY TO BE SERVED WITH RICE.
